Prospero Health & Wellbeing

Mindfulness through Drama and Active Learning

Foxholes in my Mind is a project developed for schools on Mindfulness, now acknowledged as a vital tool to enhance the performance of students and to contribute significantly to their health and wellbeing.

The project is led by two practitioners, working as actors in short sketches which are watched and analysed by the students, working in role with small groups, directing scenes and guiding students through a range of exercises.

KS3 and KS4

We have developed two versions of the project, one for KS3 and one for KS4.

The objectives and content range are similar for each but the exercises are slightly different. Please state the age of the students when booking.

For Special Schools, please talk to us about your students and we can put together a more bespoke piece.

The Key Objectives of the Project are:

  • To release the potential of individuals by imparting techniques to manage stress and to eliminate the blocks of negative thinking

  • To develop creative thinking, focus and confidence

  • To develop techniques to articulate and advocate

  • To encourage responsibility, control and the habit of making of pro-active life choices

Style and Content

The style of the piece is modern and fun. As well as exercises and games undertaken by the students there are sketches performed by the actors and plenty of opportunity for participants to voice opinions and explore ideas.

The sessions cover Relaxation and Awareness, Observation and Listening, Focus and Control (including common approaches to Anger Management) Intuition and Creative Thinking, Time-Management and Stepping outside the Comfort Zone.

Prospero is an inclusive company and all sessions are designed to incorporate young people of all abilities.

Each pupil is given an Info Sheet with reminders of the messages and exercises, and the numbers of relevant organisations for those who want to know more.
